Dr King calls for action on Universal Health Care

The Former Chief Medical Officer, Dr Stephen King has called for more action to implement Universal Healthcare in St Lucia.

Dr King said St Lucia must now move beyond the talk and start to implement.

He said the health sector is plagued by division which leads to duplication, wastage and patients not being referred in a holistic way.

“What we need to do is create a more organized and coordinated…what we would call an integrated system; integrated between community and hospitals and between the public and private sector. Because at the end of the day everybody has got the same objectives and we need to come together as one team for one health,” King said.

Universal healthcare has long been a goal of the government of St Lucia. The initiative is meant to guarantee access to a basket of health services to people regardless of their economic circumstances.

Yes i keep wondering the same, what about Scott Adkins.Nothing more said,Venezuela have the tape but what is St.Lucia doing. And am yet to hear about Shawn, and how St.Lucia is expected to move forward.A young St.lucian boy gets captured and no Government cares. And Dr.King i know you mean well, but the Government broke hands tie and Kenny Anthony on the loose.Ask Kenny to return the Monies he steal from tax payers. Then we will have all the health care the people need, and rhe hospitals would be open by now.

The implimentation of Universal Health Care would be the single most important indicator of St.Lucia moving forward as a developing small island state and not just another bunch of corrupt, clueless, for self only, greedy, visionless, banana republic like jockers!
