Armed robbery at Independence City

Two gunmen held up a bread van Wednesday afternoon at Independence City and robbed the driver of about $300 in cash.

The incident occurred at around 5 pm.

The driver told St. Lucia Times that one of the men came up to the vehicle and asked for a cake.

“When I opened the container to give him a cake the other one came from in the bush with a gun and told me to give him all the money I had – but both of them had guns,” he explained.

He disclosed that he handed over the cash and the bandits escaped into the bushes.

The victim recalled that one of the men wore a mask.

He told St Lucia Times that so far he has been held up and robbed about ten times.

“All the time it’s guns – never knives,” the victim said of the previous holdups.

Mr Bakerman, sorry to hear the robbery and more so it being the tenth time.

You may not be in favour of using a firearm but may I suggest as a businessman who’s been robbed on multiple occasions that you apply for a gun licence.

I think you’ve got damn good grounds for you to be issued with one.
