BCF: Injured inmate ‘recovering well’

An inmate of the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) who was injured in a  stabbing incident on Saturday  morning at the institution, is ‘recovering well’, prison officials have disclosed.

The inmate,  Emmerson Dornelly, had to be rushed to St Jude hospital after being stabbed in the chest and lower abdomen during an altercation with another inmate, identified as Junior Duncan.

According to information obtained by St Lucia Times, Dornelly is still hospitalised whereas Duncan has been interviewed by the police and is likely to be charged shortly.

Duncan has also been confined to the maximum security section of the BCF where he is not allowed to mingle with the other inmates, an official told St Lucia Times.

Duncan was one of the two inmates involved in an attack on another prisoner at the BCF in June this year.

He was shot when he and the other attacker turned on a response team.

Duncan is later reported to have attempted to commit suicide by swallowing a number of pills that were given to him as part of the treatment for his gunshot wound.
