New Playground Resources for Augier Preschoolers

PRESS RELEASE:-CASTRIES, St. Lucia, August 31st 2016 – Kindergarteners at the ABC Funhouse Preschool in Augier return to school in September to additional playground resources, as CIBC FirstCaribbean continues to support the preschool through its Adopt-A-Cause Programme.

ABC Funhouse caters to the early childhood learning needs of approximately 60 toddlers from Augier and surrounding communities.   The relationship between the bank and the early childhood learning centre began last year when it received garden landscaping enhancement designed to enrich the outdoor experience for the preschoolers in time for the new school year.

On Friday August 18th, the school received additional support which Administrator Ms. Elsa Joyeux described as “not just play things but very useful tools for the children’s mental stimulation and for interpreting the environment around them, and how they interact with it.”

Through CIBC FirstCaribbean’s Adopt-a-Cause Programme employees are encouraged to identify and recommend groups, organisations and schools in need of a helping hand. They then play a direct role in answering that need not only with financial support but also by volunteering their time where possible.

“We continue to maintain a strong focus on our country’s youth at all ages and stages of their development. Whether playground toys for a preschool or internships for tertiary school leavers, we see it as a direct investment in the human capital of our country, which will bear dividends in the future,” said Country Manager, Ladesa James-Williams.

The bank maintains a keen interest in partnering with learning institutions and organisations with a youth development mandate.  Last month, the Salvation Army made considerable strides in upgrading its preschool and daycare facility to attain operational benchmarks for early childhood learning set by the Ministry of Education, with the bank’s support.
