Broken main causes flooding at St Jude Hospital

St Jude Hospital staff had to mop up Saturday after a broken main sent water spewing onto the floor.

The hospital’s Public Relations and Liaison Officer, Shervon Alfred, told St Lucia Times that at around 12:30 pm a four inch pipe close to the medical wards ruptured.

He said the main lobby area and the pediatric ward were also affected.

“The mains were closed and clean up operations began. One hour later at about 1.30 the situation was brought under control,” Alfred explained.

He said the hospital was in the process of getting the broken pipe replaced.

Alfred told St Lucia Times that no patients had to be moved and no hospital equipment was damaged.

Perfect example of why only insured contractors be used.
It could have been much worse had the rupture occurred over top of let’s say an MRI machine.

Not the first time that this has happened at the St. Jude’s Hospidium. Time to relocate to their original site.
