A tropical storm watch has been issued for St Lucia as a potential tropical cyclone approaches the Windward Islands.
At 11:00 AM today the system was located around 755 miles ESE of the Windward Islands with maximum sustained winds of 35mph.
Forecasters say the system, known as potential tropical cyclone fifteen, has a 100 percent chance of development over the next 48 hours and was moving west at 22 mph.
A Tropical Storm Watch means tropical storm conditions could be seen in the next 48 hours.
Tropical Storm watches have also been issued for Martinique, Guadeloupe and Dominica.
The system is expected to produce total rain accumulations of 5 to 10 inches with isolated maximum amounts of 15 inches across portions of the central and southern Leeward Islands through Tuesday night, the National Hurricane Centre said.
The St Lucia Met. Service has advised residents to closely monitor the progress of this system. Those living in areas prone to flooding and landslides should take all necessary against these hazards, authorities say.
