Forecasters say Hurricane Maria has intensified into a potentially catastrophic category 5 storm and is moving toward Dominica.
At 8:00pm Monday, the centre of the hurricane was located around 15 miles east south east of Dominica packing winds of 160mph.
Forecasters says some additional strengthening is possible tonight.
On the forecast track, the core of Maria will move near Dominica and the adjacent Leeward Islands during the next few hours, according to the National Hurricane Centre.
Photos posted on social media earlier today showed downed power lines and trees in Roseau Valley.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles.
