PRESS RELEASE:-CYPAN Wishes All A Happy International Day of Peace and Launches Keynote Activity

The Commonwealth Youth Peace Ambassador’s Network (CYPAN) St. Lucia’s Chapter joined the United Nations in celebrating International Day of Peace under the theme “Together for peace, respect, safety and dignity for all”.  This observance has taken place on the 21st of September since 1981 and this year’s theme honors the spirit of togetherness.  Whilst wishing the nation and member countries a happy International Day of Peace, it is an opportune time to launch CYPAN’s keynote commemoration activity.

The organization is hosting an inter-district essay competition organized primarily for Secondary School students. Students are encouraged to write a 100 – 150 word essay, using the topic: “What Does a Peace Building Commonwealth Mean to Our Business Community”.  Essays must be submitted to the email address on or before October 07, 2017 at 11:59 pm.

The most successful writer from each district will face off at A CYPAN Discourse which is scheduled for Thursday 23 November, 2017.  Participants will be awarded for their participation. This activity has been endorsed by the Ministry Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development, the Department of Youth Development and Sports and the Department of Commerce, International Trade, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs.

CYPAN also wishes to use this day to enforce a message of Participation, Protection, Prevention and Partnerships as factors which can contribute to a more peaceful society as based on the United National Security Council’s Resolution 2250. The organization is voicing a special call to Government, Country and Community Leaders, The Police Force and Judiciary, faith based leaders and organizations and citizens to make concerted collaborative efforts towards attaining a more peaceful society.
