Boaz & his Mother being Bullied by the Dept. of Education?

PRESS RELEASE:-Castries, Saint Lucia – Monday, September 25, 2017: Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia Inc.

Raise Your Voice Saint Lucia is concerned the Department of Education has hauled Ms. Louina Joseph before the courts; the Department of Education has unleashed the power of the government against a poor, defenseless, vulnerable and marginalized mother who contends that her child is being discriminated against within the public education system because of a rare medical condition.

We ask the following questions:

  • Has there been an independent investigation into allegations of discrimination against Boaz by the faculty?
  • Has there been an independent investigation that the Principal does not want Boaz in the school?
  • Has the Department of Education conducted an independent investigation into the matter of discrimination and victimization by both students and staff of the school against a child with an incurable and rare skin condition?
  • Has the Department of Education applied a social and humanitarian approach to this very traumatic situation for all involved (mother, child, students and teachers)?
  • Can the Department of Education identify the Social Worker and Counselor who has been assigned to deal with this problem in a more social and humane manner?
  • Is Boaz being victimized and further marginalized by the very system which is meant to protect him?

We call on the Department of Education, the Minister of Education and Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Hon. Dr. Gale Rigobert to apply a humanitarian and social approach to this situation, as it appears the Dept. of Education has found its might against a poor women, but not the Ministry of Finance which failed to provide allocation for the maintenance of educational infrastructure.

I agree that the MOE is using its heavy hand against Boaz’s mother. This lady is already going through a lot with a child in the condition of Boaz. Why should the MOE haul her before the courts in such a situation? These people are so heartless. I am sickened by the things that happen in this God-forsaken country of ours!

Before we call all these people to get things stright we first need to council the mother of the child cause I think she has a serious problem. …this child was in my daughters class and was being very troublesome and harassing the kids..he would put spit on his hand and pass it on the children’s face…he would hold up his hand and chase the children every where and say the monster is coming..when the class teacher and school principal spoke to him and the mother she insulted them infront of the child and went to the media with her lies….the child was being treated equally but his mother made every effort to make the schools look bad.she even came to the school dressed in a crop top extra short shorts and heels quarrelling with the teacher now u think that’s right. ….calling the teacher benladins wife and even accusing her of stealing the child books…even in church this woman would quarrel with people. …do u honestly think that the schools are the ones with the problem, one child so many schoold. …I think u should sit with this mother and talk to her cause I think she is mentally ill….not one school has a good reputation when it comes to bozas and his mother….this woman is very troublesome and turning a sick and loving little boy into a menice to the education society. …

I wished that I could have spoken.writing will take thus to long.
I am a resident of the community where both the mother and son is from.
This child has been out of school for a while.
To make it short,I always have this kid in mind.
I was planning of raising funds for this kid . Hopefully towards the ending of this year.
Very bright little boy but he has a skin condition where something that looks like warts grows all over his hand.Im not sure for the mouth. It wants to look like as if is a tree growing or something. It is really bad and many parents for fear of their kids contracting it ,DO NOT WANT THEIR KID(S) TO SOCIALISE
    WITH BOAZ.
The mother said to me that the skin problem is non contagious .
Im happy Boaz situation is now made public .
I believe that’s why we have a ministry of health. To help and care for the less fortunate especially when they have a rare condition in the case of Boaz.Madamme minimiser,
Raise the funds and send him upbroad if we can’t detect or treat the problem.
I am willing to help out in whatever way that I can.
So many ppl in authority in the community of Money Repos,Patience and environs.
    Come on……………..
Ppl the discrimination is real .
We don’t want our kids to play with this little poor child but what have we done as parents to help bring an end to this little boys condition.

so if the boy has a skin disease perhaps warts , why is that not a case for the doctors and not the courts? why is the lady being brought to court? typical lucians; they in position for a little time and use and abuse their authority over others that they think less than them.

Dear Editor, do you have the facts on the issue? Did you just took the information from the mother and run with like an opportunity you have been waiting for?

Have anyone of you check the story from both sides. The evidence will shock some of the emotional comments.

This case should have never entered the court system. Let discernment prevail. Both mother and child are already undergoing unbearable frustration and emotional trauma. To be despised, rejected, discriminated against and ostracized is a living nightmare for anyone. Any caring MP, government, school officials, corporate citizen, community activist would have intervened and try to get some sort of medical assistance for the affected child and the distraught mother. When you are poor, you are treated like what you find in a baby’s diaper. Messrs.. Ministers of Education, Health and other well positioned altruistic persons, use your good offices to appeal to non profit regional and international organizations to procure the appropriate medical diagnosis and treatment for this innocent child. Involving the courts could only exacerbate an already overly burdensome and highly emotional problem.

MSBP? – I don’t think so. How can the mother or child fake the skin disease which has been diagnosed and is very apparent

My question is …Is there not ONE doctor/skin specialist on island who can or should have been able to treat this condition and rid this boy of this illness? …Or is there no compassion on their part as well as the Ministry of Health that arrangements could be made for treatment overseas ?
