LPM reiterates call for religious leaders to do more

PRESS RELEASE: Fearing there may be a direct link between the adverse economic situation in the country, and the sharp rise in suicide cases, the leader of the Lucian Peoples Movement (LPM), Therold Prudent, has issued a call to the religious community to accept a greater role in calming the spirit of despair which currently grips our nation.

In making his plea for greater spiritual involvement in the lives of those who are not sufficiently endowed to weather the blistering burden of social discord and economic hardship which is destine to claim more lives, the LPM leader is adamant that no responsible religious organization can ill afford to ignore the urgency of the moment.

When you have a small nation where a 165,000 people have waited in vain all   their lives for the prospects of a better Saint Lucia, and only to have their hopes dashed by politicians who are grossly deceitful, and are more interested in pursuing narrow partisan agendas that are adverse to the economic interest of the country, one must expect that at some point the rivers of frustration will eventually burst wide open and thus result in unintended consequences.

Therefore, given the current state of affairs in the country, Prudent is of the view that since Saint Lucians are not immune from the historical consequences of what usually occurs in nations where prolong social and economic depression  have often prompted citizens to take their own lives, or to even riot, this may well be an opportune moment for all  spiritual leaders  and other religiously affiliated organizations to  broaden their outreach programs so as to reach the most vulnerable among us.

No one is immune from social injustices no matter where in the world you reside. There will always be those who rule and reign and those who grin and are barely able to make it. The key 🔑 however is too look to God who is your source and use every honest tool or resource available to you in order to make it. With God no thing shall be impossible.

However no one can come to that realization but the respective individual. You can bring a horse to the water but you can not make it drink. God is faithful and able trust in him not in man.

    Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he shall direct your paths.

“know who is the source of life and who gives life and who is the provider of our lives”. Easy to answer that one. It’s the “white tourists” that come to our blessed island and sprinkle it with life giving funds. Respect the tourists and you shall prosper.

Political comment. Politicians normally take the slightest opportunity to play on the minds of those who are shallow and those who are easily swayed by every wind of politics. Therold that approach would not increase your popularity by playing on the minds of the people.

Well said Mr. Prudent. The only church leader who has said anything is the ash bishop. all others are dumb because social science has shown that when things get hard economically people flock to the church. They will say nothing cause their pews are full and most probably their collection plates are bigger. And to all the “so called Christians” when Jesus was on the earth he spoke against the social injustices of his time.”so why aren’t the present church leaders?”

Dumbing your self down with religious hoopla isnt much of an escape from suicidal thoughts. Religion is primitive. People need to knoe that there is more to life and that they should taek action to improve their circumstances. Often which they put them selves in.
