PRESS RELEASE: In keeping with the organization’s community empowerment program, the Country Strikers Youth and Sports Club conducted a first aid training session for its members and residents of the community of Banse La Grace, Laborie. The session was held on October 17th, 2017 and was facilitated by officers from the St. Lucia Fire Service.
Participants were given exposure to basic first aid procedures and provided with the knowledge and skills required to apply lifesaving first aid treatment in the absence of emergency services. Attendees were also given an opportunity to not only observe but also engage in practical exercises. Over thirty (30) individuals benefited from this training exercise including members of the club’s football team who were a primary target. The Country Strikers Youth & Sports Club recognizes the importance of its members being knowledgeable of these essential skills as these can be useful and critical in a life-threatening situation. In this regard, plans are in place to continue this initiative and ensure that members become certified.
The club wishes to extend its gratitude to the fire officers from the Vieux Fort Fire Station who conducted this training exercise. The CSYC looks forward to future collaborations with other institutions and organizations both private and public, as it seeks to ensure the holistic development of its members and residents of the community, building the foundation for a better society.
