Saint Lucian, Louis Lewis, has been appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of the Tobago Tourism Agency.
Lewis was associated with the Saint Lucia Tourist Board from February 2008 to January of this year, in the capacity of Director of Tourism, as well as Chief Executive Officer.
He resigned his post amid reports of ‘disquiet’ at the institution.
From 2003 to 2006 Lewis acted as Saint Lucia’s Director of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, where he was accountable for the execution of the budget policy program.
After this post, he was appointed as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce, Trade, Investment and Consumer Affairs, before getting selected as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Back in the 1990’s, Lewis occupied prominent positions in numerous significant Saint Lucia government agencies, including serving as the Head of the Research Department at the Saint Lucia Tourist Board and an Economist with the Ministry of Finance.
He was also associated as an Economic Statistician with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank at its headquarters in Saint Kitts.
