PRESS RELEASE: On October 21st, 2017, in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness month the Soufriere Pitons Lions Club in collaboration with the Bureau of Health Education, sponsored a church service at the Soufriere Roman Catholic Church in honor of those who have died and are living with cancer.
In attendance were members of the Castries, Vieux Fort and Leo clubs. After the church service the congregation, members of the public, Lions and Leos proceeded to the Soufriere Waterfront for a brief ceremony. Four (4) cancer survivors addressed the public, the youngest – a 12-year-old Leukemia survivor and also Lion Leslyann Modeste who had her own touching story to tell on her struggles with cancer. The evening culminated with the release of sky lanterns over the Soufriere ocean in memory of those who have passed from this disease.
Soufriere Pitons are inviting everyone to their next major fundraising project on December 03rd, 2017 at the Fond Doux Holiday Plantation Resort where funds will be raised to assist children who are visually impaired in St. Lucia.
