A search has been launched for a Laborie woman who has been missing since Friday, authorities say.
Police fear that Saadia Byron, 32, may have come to harm because of items they have recovered.
Earlier reports suggesting that Byron’s body was found in a river have been refuted by relatives and police.
According to the missing woman’s brother Chris Byron, Saadia left home to collect baby supplies from a bus driver in Vieux Fort.
The last time she spoke to relatives, she was on a bus heading back to Laborie.
Family members became concerned and raised the alarm when she failed to return home after several hours.
“We all are devastated,” Chris said. “We all want to find out what’s going on. We all want some closure to this thing. Every family wants, dead or alive, to have their loved one back, he added.
Saadia Byron is the mother of two girls and a boy, ages 7, 12, and 15 years old.
St Lucia Times understands that law enforcement forces have discovered some items believed to belong to the woman but are tight lipped as to what they are.
A group of relatives and friends is currently walking through the area to search for the missing mother.
