Teen wanted for attempted rape of woman, 52, near Soufriere church

A teenage male is wanted by Soufriere police in connection with a report that he attempted to rape a fifty-two year old woman, law enforcement sources have told St Lucia Times.

The alleged incident occurred on Sunday at around 3:20 am near the Fond St Jacques Roman Catholic church in Soufriere.

Law enforcement sources told St Lucia Times that it was reported that the woman was seated near the church building when a male in his late teens approached, grabbed her and dragged the screaming woman to an area at the side of the church, where he proceeded to rip off her underwear.

According to the report, the youth had already removed his trousers when the woman’s screams alerted her son who was nearby.

The son ran to his mother’s aid and the would be rapist fled, leaving his trousers behind.

The alleged perpetrator is reported to be known to the woman and is being sought by the police.

    My problem with this is that they will tell women to be more careful. Be vigilant. Etc etc…. But when did we stop teaching our boys not to rape? And that this is wrong?

    Ultimately this is sad and scary on so many levels.

    It’s high time parents and grandparents took more responsibility for how they are bringing up their children. This level of violent crime didn’t happen a generation ago.
