Two Vieux Fort men charged for profanity-laced video

Two Vieux Fort men, identified by law enforcement sources as Greg Mathurin and David Charles, have been charged in connection with an expletive-laced video that was posted on Facebook.

Mathurin was charged with using obscene words, while Charles was charged with aiding an abetting Mathurin.

Charles is accused of filming the video.

He is also believed to have been the off camera person urging on the profanity-spouting presenter in the video who goes on a rant about Assou Square activities in the South of the Island, as compared to the event in Castries.

Both men are from West Hall Group, Vieux Fort, according to reports.

Part of the title of the Facebook post reads: ‘We (expletive) fed up to long Vieux Fort South Isolated’.

A law enforcement official told St Lucia Times that the two men accused of filming and presenting the video were granted bail when they appeared recently in court, and are due to make another court appearance on February 28, 2018.

I hope when is a lawyer, yourl catch on facebook, that he is given a ride to custody suites as well..Keep it up RSLPF. Take advantage on the lower income citizens..Now those guys have to find money to pay a lawyer to defend them..It just seems sometimes that the Police are working for the Lawyers and Judges to make an income and don’t care about equal rights and justice..

The prosecutors and police time would be wisely spent investigating how best to present charges on all the murderers out there awaiting their day in court. I guess they need a win and this is an easy one for them. Such a waste of time!!!!!

This has to be a joke , these men broke no law is facebook property of the government of st lucia , why are we following law enforcement policies of first world nation this a a gross abuse of power , i am ashamed of our police force , this is what our hard tax dollars going towards , why not focus on better traffic policing with so many.reckless drivers on the road , whose life or livelyhood did these men threaten or endanger , while profanity would not have been the best medium for expression , lets not pretend that this is common language that even law enforcement use both on and off duty , gros gros abuse of power

Since when has it been the duty of the law enforcement to imprison anyone for profanity? We do not live in a dictatorship, a strict religious country.
This is highly disturbing. Anytime a government begins enforcing evershifting “morality” laws that nations people should beware and on alert. It is never a good sign.

Why are you lucians so critical about every thing and anything the police do. When they don’t react or not quickly enough to your liking it’s another problem.

ST.LUCIA AND THOSE SONS OF SLAVES….. THIS IS SO LAUGHABLE I HAD TO COMMENT….. IVE SEEN THE VIDEOS AND BASICALLY, THE GUYS WERE MAKING MENTION OF THE FACT THAT THE ACTIVITIES HELD ON THE SQUARE IN CASTRIES GOES AS IT SHOULD FOR THE TWO DAYS BUT IN VIEUX FORT THEY ARE ONLY GIVEN HALF A DAY AND THAT THEY FELT NEGLECTED. THEY POINTED OUT THE GOVERNMENT FOR THIS SITUATION. QUESTION? IF I CREATE MY PERSONAL AN ACCOUNT ON FACEBOOK AND EXPRESS MY SELF AS I FELL NECESSARY, WHO IS THE GOVERNMENT OF ST.LUCIA OR ANY BODY TO DICTATE MY ACTIONS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. NEVER KNEW ST.LUCIAN GROUP OR INSTITUTION OWNED FACEBOOK…. HYPOCRITES……. (Words deleted)

Let me try to understand what you are saying. Suppose i publish a video of myself on facebook, involved in a crime in st.lucia. The police has no right to pursue a charge because they would be dictating my actions on social media. Hahahaha

This is a joke, right? If it’s not, then the accused are simply low bearing fruits that can be plucked easily. Normally referred to as soft targets. I have heard vulgar calypso on my Internet radio emanating from St. Lucia and no arrests were made.
With all the criminal activity taking place, one would think there are bigger fishes to fry. My advice, this is bull…go seek real crime and stop the political machinations.
