Guyana: Inmates beat man accused of fondling girl, 3

Guyana Chronicle:-  PRINCIPAL Magistrate Judy Latchman on Friday remanded a 34-year-old man to prison for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with his three-year-old relative.

The indictable offence against William Gomes alleged that during the month of May, 2016 at Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. He was remanded to prison until February 13.

Gomes, when taken into the prisoners’ lock-up at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court was badly beaten by other inmates when they heard about what Gomes had allegedly done to the female child.

According to reports the three-year-old girl went to stay with Gomes at his Diamond Housing Scheme residence during the month of May, where it is alleged that he fondled the child.

The child confided in her mother about being ‘troubled’ by Gomes and when the mother examined the child it was discovered that she had been molested.
