Teenager, Dana Alenor, made peace with a close friend before she died.
The friend, Shamma, recalled that she and Altenor had a ‘problem’, but the eighteen year old had apologised just hours before she died.
Altenor succumbed after a vehicle in which she was travelling collided with a panel van at Cul de Sac.
Three persons are said to be in critical condition at Victoria Hospital.
Shamma said that she, Altenor and others had a night out Thursday and finding that a club they wanted to visit was closed, decided to head elsewhere.
“She told us ‘Lead the way’. While we were driving, we just see her boyfriend overtake us and he start swerving in the road. So we said to ourselves : ‘Those people want to reach in the hospital!’ So we gave them space to pass,” Shamma told reporters.
She recalled that moments later, they saw that two vehicles had collided.
Shakera, another friend of the deceased, told reporters that Dana Altenor had begged her to get into the ill-fated vehicle.
But Shakera said she opted not to.
Cecilia Altenor, the mother of the deceased, said her daughter came from church Thursday night, showered, changed and left the house.
“She came from church last night and she told me she was going out with her friends,” the older woman revealed.
The mother recalled that she would later receive the tragic news of her daughter’s demise.
“She was very good to me, very close,” the distraught mother stated.
Station Officer at the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS), Jermaine William, disclosed that a a report of the accident at Cul de Sac was received around 2:11 am.
William said that as per protocol, officers responded with one ambulance and a fire appliance.
An appliance from the Gros Islet Fire Station was also dispatched, he told reporters.
“On arrival on the scene, the officers encountered two vehicles, one travelling North bound and one travelling South bound, entangled as a result of a head on collision. Three persons were extricated from the motor car which was traveling North and one person was removed from the panel van travelling South. Of the three persons removed from the motor car, one person presented with negative vitals,” William said.
