Sources: PWA concerned about WPC probe

The Police Welfare Association (PWA), is concerned about a probe that has been ordered into alleged insubordination towards National Security Minister, Hermangild Francis, by a Woman Police Constable (WPC), reliable sources have told St Lucia Times.

The probe was ordered by the Police Commissioner in response to a formal complaint, it has been reported.

The complaint is said to have been made after the WPC, who was the immigration officer at the time, allegedly said she had no time for the minister when she was informed by a volunteer from the Office of the Prime Minister that Francis was on the line and wanted to speak with her.

The volunteer had reportedly called the minister after the WPC is said to have been unwilling to cooperate in fast tracking the entry of several Martinique nationals who arrived here by ferry during the Carnival festivities.

The volunteer was at the ferry terminal to assist the visitors.

According to information obtained by St Lucia Times, the PWA executive plans to discuss the matter at a meeting later this week.

Why do they waste time of such trivial things like that. The woman police officer did nothing wrong.

Just image if you are the private sector and you are saying you have no time for your boss. Typical labour thinking. This is where we want the country to go. PWA need to be careful how they handle situation like this.

What are you talking about ? Firstly the minister is not her “boss” the police commissioner is, hence he ordered the probe.Secondly, the officer was just doing her job properly instead of giving preferential treatment to foreigners. Stop bending over backwards for persons with titles and follow the rule of law in the country

The police just keep on shooting themselves in the foot. The insubordination is very clear as the chain of command is not in question. The same way this woman police officer would have had to salute the minister recognizing his position, her comment clearly indicates her intention to disregard his authority. The people who support this foolishness will not save her from disciplinary action.
