The 9th Annual Oktoberfest en Kweyol is Here!

PRESS RELEASE:-The ninth edition of “Oktoberfest en Kweyol” was launched recently at the most fitting and rustic setting of the Jambe DuBois restaurant in the Pigeon Island National Park.

“Oktoberfest en Kweyol”, which is organized by Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited (WLBL), is seen as the official start of activities to mark Creole Heritage Month here in October. As such, the event is endorsed by the Folk Research Center (FRC), organizers of the main activities for that month.

“Oktoberfest en Kweyol”, borrows from the international German Beer Festival – Oktoberfest, with a French Creole frothing to entice the local palette. And, since its inception, the event has been embraced by Saint Lucians island-wide, also attracting numerous visitors as it seeks to garner even more attention for our Creole heritage and culture.

The entertainment line-up for “Oktoberfest en Kweyol” will include DYP, Avot Sevis and Secrets Band among others from Saint Lucia.

The guest performer will be the great French West Indies Zouk singer Bod Guibert whose classic hits date back to the 80s. Fans of Zouk music would know him well for such hits as “Oyoyo”, “Gwo Ka La”, “Doum Zaza” and “Reflechie”.

The main highlight of Oktoberfest is of course the beers and this year they are coming in from near and far. The staple Paulaner Beer will again be available as well as the popular Parbo Jugo from Suriname.
