The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has issued an advisory to the public regarding BT Co-operative Finance.
“It has been brought to the attention of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) that an entity by the name of ‘BT Co-operative Finance’, having a website address of http://btcoperativefin.com/about.html, is claiming to be “licensed by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, under the applicable Banking Act 2015, to carry on banking business in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union”, the advisory on the ECCB’s official website on Friday said.
However, the ECCB said BT Co-operative Finance is not licenced and regulated by the ECCB
As a result, the central bank advised the public not to input personal information anywhere on the BT Co-operative Finance website.
The advisory specifically mentioned user IDs, passwords, bank account numbers and debit card information.
The ECCB said it provides a link to the list of all entities licensed, regulated and supervised by the ECCB, as well as the contact information.
And the advisory posted the link: : https://www.eccb-centralbank.org/p/contact-information-for-licensed-financial-institutions
“Members of the public are asked to be guided accordingly,” the advisory concluded.
