Alleged Con Artist released by Police

An alleged Con Artist  who was taken into custody has been released by the police pending further investigations, reliable sources have told the Times.

The release occurred yesterday.

Sources have explained that law enforcers are not yet in a position to charge the woman, who lives in Dennery.

“This is a wide ranging matter,” an official explained.

The alleged Con Artist has fleeced as many as seventy people or more of money under false pretense, according to information obtained by the Times.

Police apparently want to ensure that they obtain statements from as many of those persons as possible.

But a source familiar with police work suggested to the Times that law enforcers had put the cart before the horse in not investigating thoroughly and then making an arrest.

They also raised the possibility that the suspect can flee the country.

In some cases the suspect is reported to have obtained money from people by telling them her daughter and sometimes her grandmother needed help with medical expenses.

In one case the alleged Con Artist is reported to have told a school Janitor that a coconut fell on her daughter’s head.

The same suspect is reported to have later told someone else that a coconut fell on her grandmother’s head.

According to reports, police found a number of Saint Lucian passports at the suspect’s home.

She allegedly obtained the passports after promising their owners that she could obtain jobs for them overseas.
