A 32-year old Saint Lucian has died in New York of COVID-19, relatives here say.
According to family members, Craig Auguste died Tuesday night in a New York Hospital after a two-week illness.
Auguste originally resided in Soufriere before leaving for the United States some 15 years ago to join his mother, a family member told St Lucia Times.
The family member disclosed that he was a hospitality industry worker.
“He enjoyed life,” the family member recalled.
“He was in Saint Lucia last year for his friend’s wedding and had a great time. That’s the last time we saw him,” the relative disclosed.
The family says the death has hit them hard.
They say the blow has been made harder by the travel restrictions currently in place due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
