Former Saint Lucia Prime Minister, Dr. Kenny Anthony, has expressed concern over COVID-19 cases in Vieux Fort South.

“Like many of you I have become aware that over the past few days, several of our constituents have tested positive for Covid-19. Even some of our schools have positive cases. The situation is worrisome,” he said in a message on Facebook.

“The number of cases in our constituency warn us that we have to remain vigilant,” the Vieux Fort South MP stated.

“Even though there is a relaxation of the protocols, we still have to be careful. We have to remain on guard,” Anthony observed.

“Please do not throw caution to the wind,” he urged.

As a result, Anthony called on his constituents to observe the COVID-19 protocols.

“Let us continue to wear our masks, wash and sanitize our hands, practice social distance as much as possible, and reduce the temptation to gather in large groups,” he said.

But he noted that many are afraid to take the vaccine.

However, while acknowledging that no one can compel or force people to take the jab, Anthony disclosed that he has had his two shots.

“The more of us who have the vaccine, the safer we all will be,” he asserted.

“Meanwhile, let us spare a thought for our positive cases and pray and hope for a speedy recovery for all,” Anthony concluded.
