Armed bandits robbed the Courts Saint Lucia Chaussee Road branch in Castries Thursday afternoon about 2:00 p.m. and escaped with cash and valuables, police say.

According to information obtained by St Lucia Times, two of the bandits stayed on the ground flood of the store while the other two rushed upstairs where the cash was and forced staff at gunpoint to hand over an undisclosed sum of money as well as their personal valuables.

The gunmen then escaped.

Police disclosed that no one was injured during the robbery, a spate of which has occurred in recent time in the capital and elsewhere.

A law enforcement official told St Lucia Times that the Courts Chaussee Road  robbery occurred as officers were investigating a report that a weed eater had been stolen from the same store.

The official said about two hours before the armed bandits struck, the police had arrested a suspect in connection with the report of the weed eater theft.
