A sanitation worker who attempted to smuggle drugs and other contraband into Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF), has been granted bail.

Police say when Elijah James appeared virtually before a magistrate Friday, the court granted him bail of $900.

The Dennery resident is due to make another court appearance on April 12, 2021.

Police say James claimed responsibility after BCF officers discovered a quantity of marijuana in a garbage truck.
