Barbadians have been signing a petition to be able to refuse a COVID-19 vaccine without fear of reprisals.

According to local media reports, scores of individuals gathered at Sky Mall, Haggatt Hall, St Michael on Saturday to sign the document.

Barbados Today quoted petition organiser, Winston Clarke, as telling the local media that those who do not want the vaccine must not have to fear victimization.

“We are hearing that people at certain work establishments are being told that if they do not take the vaccine that they will be dismissed,” Clarke explained.

Clarke said the petition was also to speak out against  a section in the Emergency Management (Amendment) Bill 2020.

It gives the Government the power to acquire private properties if needed during a national emergency.

According to Barbados Today Clarke said he is hoping to submit the petition to Parliament by this week.
