Barbados Tutor Quits After Exam Results Controversy

The part-time tutor at the Barbados Community College (BCC) has quit amid a controversy over leaked exam results, local reports say.

Barbados Nation quoted tutor in ethics and citizenship,  Reginald Knight, as saying that he made a mistake and had apologised to the principal and the registrar.

“While they understand how the matter happened, I personally did not wish to be seen, or to have done anything that would have brought the college into disrepute. I have tendered my resignation,” Knight was quoted as saying.

As reported by Barbados Nation, answers for the ethics and citizenship exam were leaked to scores of students last Tuesday, forcing the BCC to reschedule the test two days later.

  1. Funny how in more developed and civilised countries, people holding significant responsibility resign after having made mistakes. Meanwhile in St. Lucia only a guy caught with his pants down did so despite having so many disgraceful people holding such high ranking offices.

    • You know what makes these other countries more developed and more civilized? Their citizenry is willing to do more, to say more and to act with dignity and hold their leaders accountable. They are willing to take to the streets even if it is one person. We St. Lucians are cowards. We find strength behind keyboards, and we will only jump on board if it doesn’t affect us, and if we are guaranteed anonymity. And don’t get be started on the myopia of party politics.

  2. I think that should be “controversy over leaked exam answers” instead of “exam results”. I was confused as to why leaked exam results was an issue until I read below and realized that it may be a typo.

  3. If a part time teacher can resign from his job for leaked information, why can’t the government bodies do the same when they make an event bigger cock up. The people of Barbados need to up and demand it’s time for CHANGE.
