Boxing Association receives funding

An EC$15,000 donation will be used to upgrade the National Boxing Gymnasium.

The Saint Lucia Boxing Association received a sizeable financial contribution from the Saint Lucia Olympic Committee (SLOC), earlier this week.

The $15,000 cheque, the largest to date, will be put towards an ongoing project to upgrade the National Boxing Gymnasium, in preparation for the installation of a new roof.

The cheque was presented to the SLBA following a request for assistance. SLOC President Sen. Hon. Fortuna Belrose said the organization recognizes the importance of the ongoing project for the advancement of the sport of boxing in Saint Lucia. She added that the SLOC was pleased to support the endeavor, and eagerly anticipates the completion of the project.

The cheque was received by the second Vice President and Public Relations Officer of the Saint Lucia Boxing Association, Shannon Lebourne, who expressed gratitude to the SLOC for its contribution.

Mr Lebourne said the cheque will go a long way in advancing the project, and reaffirmed the SLBA’s commitment to ensuring the donated funds are prudently managed.
