Poppy Ajudha, A British musician with Saint Lucian roots, is a member of a duo that received a celebrity endorsement from former United States President, Barack Obama, according to news reports.
The Sunday Times featured an article on January 5, 2019, in which it said Obama urged his 53 million Facebook fans and 20 million Instagram followers to listen to the jazz song Disco Yes, featuring Ajudha and Tom Misch, who are both 23 years old.
The former US President named the track one of his songs of the year, the Sunday Times reported.
The track has amassed over a million views on You Tube.
Ajudha, in a Viper Magazine interview in April last year, explained that she has Saint Lucian roots.
She is known to be related to the Adjodhas here.
The musician however told the magazine that Adjudha is not actually how her surname is spelled.
“I tried to spell it more phonetically because no one could ever say it,” she was quoted as saying.
Wonderland Magazine in March last year described the South London musician as a ‘ soul singer slicing feminism and politics into jazz melodies.’
