The brother of a man who died after allegedly being hit on the head during a Christmas Day party in Soufriere, has claimed that ‘friends’ killed his sibling.
Cletus St Jean said that he is both bitter and outraged.
He asserted that the health care system and the law let his deceased brother down.
St Jean recalled that his younger brother, Randy Augustine of Fond St Jacques, Soufriere, was out with some friends when some of them decided to go with him to a party at the home of Augustine’s parents.
‘Later that evening I got a call saying that he got injured,’ St Jean said.
He related that medical officials later informed the family that the injury was life-threatening.
However St Jean said that there was a lot of ‘inconsistent evidence’.
‘The ones that you trust the most – the friends that you trust the most, they are the ones who let him down because the wrong information was given to the officers to my understanding. They said he slipped and he smashed his head, which was inaccurate – which was the wrong thing,’ St Jean declared.
He accused law enforcement officers of not following up on information that they were given.
‘I am speechless because the same friends who gathered – who asked him to be part of their party were the same ones that killed him,’ St Jean said.
Randy Augustine succumbed on Thursday night.
Police are investigating a report that he was struck on the head with a piece of stick.
The victim is reported to have been unresponsive since the incident.
