Bugs and mold infest Traffic Department

Authorities are investigating a bug and mold infestation at the Police Traffic Department on Bridge Street.


The President of the Police Welfare Association (PWA), Camron Laure, told the Times that the matter was brought to the attention of the association.

Laure disclosed that in speaking with the authorities, the PWA was informed that the matter had been addressed and the place was treated yesterday.

He said the Department of Environmental Health had been contacted and had come in to inspect not only the Traffic Department, but other departments as well.

Laure revealed that the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) has also been contacted to conduct air quality tests.

He explained that once CARPHA completes its work, it will be known how to treat the problem in a way that it does not reoccur in the long term.

In the meantime, Laure appealed to members of the public who have business at the Traffic Department to be patient while a “suitable” location is sought for affected officers.

Laure explained that members of the public will be slightly affected by the situation but said that the police are doing the best that they can under the circumstances.
