A burglary suspect injured himself in a bid to climb a fence and escape capture as police converged on the Entrepot Secondary School in the wee hours of Thursday morning following a report of a break-in, persons familiar with the incident say.
According to reports, three men took part in the burglary and police nabbed two while one managed to escape.
An ambulance from the Saint Lucia Fire Service headquarters in Castries responded after emergency personnel received a call to assist the suspect who sustained the injury.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Manager Fernando James, told St Lucia Times that responding about 4:06 a.m., the emergency crew found two males in police custody.
James said one of the men – a 28-year-old, had a laceration to his right thumb from a fall.
” There were no life-threatening injuries,” James disclosed, adding that emergency responders treated the man on the scene and left both males in the custody of the police.
