Bus Passenger Held With Magnum Handgun, Ammunition

A bus passenger has been arrested by the police for possession of a .357 Magnum with five rounds of live ammunition, it has been disclosed.

Addressing a press conference Monday, Police Superintendent George Nicholas identified the passenger as Vernil Dillan Charles, alias ‘Pope’.

According to Nicholas, on Wednesday November 27, 2019, Micoud police conducted a traffic check along the Castries Vieux Fort highway.

He told reporters that during the operation, a minibus was stopped and a search revealed that Charles was in possession of the illegal magnum and ammunition.

Nicholas said the Cul de Sac resident was charged for the offences.

Later the same day, about 6.15 pm, the Drug Unit executed a search warrant on the premises of 35 year old Kimran Polius of Dauphin Street in Gros Islet, during which time a .380 Taurus pistol with 13 rounds of live ammunition were recovered, Nicholas told the news conference.

He said Polius was charged for possession of the firearm and ammunition without a licence.

    • And now that you guys have all that evidence which you believe to be so concrete to the extent you feel emboldened enough so as to publish it in social media, why don’t you do the decent and social conscientious thing by giving the information to the cops?

  1. Our judges have their day cut out,two guys with big guns.We are all paying attention to the courts.

    • Castries Fisherman, for the purpose of elucidation, I trust that you’re making reference to their court trials as opposed to their bail hearing, which is a totally different ball game, altogether, when it comes to the severity and harshness of the court decisions. It’s something that I noticed that even some senior police officers and the Minister responsible for Justice don’t seem to be making a clear distinction between.

  2. Anyone caught in possession of a gun should not be allowed back on the streets until they give specific details as to how they came into possession of such a weapon.

  3. Why are we bailing guys with guns,in the first place.Do they have any excuse to why they need a cannon in their waist.Did they purchase the gun in SS,Who and how facilitated the purchase, there is a net work all set up cant we get any lead ?

  4. One of the intresting things is that they love the bails sistem, the fantastic amount of cash that comes in,to the coffers, and its all cash. Its a great bussines the law dosent matter to much, who cares, let them go so we can catch them next month, and collect more cash..They are all in its like our trafic tickets
