The National Workers Union (NWU) has confirmed that Wednesday’s industrial action by employees at RBC Royal Bank in Castries was over health concerns.
The NWU said its members have complained about the presence of mold inside the bank.
While the workers reported to work on Wednesday they opted to remain outside the bank’s office on Micoud Street.
NWU President General Tyrone Maynard said the union held discussions with the bank’s management and requested the services of an expert to assess the situation.
“We had a meeting with the General Manager and we have advised that we should get hold of Mr. Andres Griffith. Let him come in there, carry out his inspection, his investigation and at the end of it he will issue a report,” Maynard said.
Maynard disclosed that the workers will remain outside the bank while the inspection is carried out.
