CARICOM Condemns Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has issued a statement strongly condemning the military attacks and invasion of Ukraine by The Russian Federation.

The regional grouping has called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of the military presence and cessation of any further actions that may intensify ‘the current perilous situation in that country.’

CARICOM said the recognition by the Russian Federation of the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk represents a violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.

“The hostilities against Ukraine go counter to the principles of respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of another sovereign state and the prohibition on the threat or use of force, and the peaceful resolution of disputes, which are the bedrock of this Community,” the CARICOM statement observed.

It said CARICOM maintains that the principles of universal respect and adherence to these norms and principles of international law are fundamental to maintaining the international system and global peace and security.

And the grouping said it calls on all parties involved to urgently embark on intensified diplomatic dialogue to de-escalate hostilities and work towards a sustainable peace immediately.

Russia’s President Vladimir Putin ordered  attacks on Ukraine on Thursday, hitting multiple cities and bases with air strikes or shelling, and attacking by land and sea.

Ukraine officials said dozens died during the first hours of the Russian attacks and the Ukraine government has appealed for help.

But Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has threatened any foreign country trying to interfere with “consequences you have never seen,” according to the Associated Press.

  1. More than 5 years ago, Imran Hosein gave us an abbreviated history of zionist machinations, which presaged current events in Ukraine:

Notwithstanding Zelenski’s threat of nukes against the Donbass, perhaps the trigger for Russia’s actions wasn’t nukes but biolabs. Ukraine has 16 biolabs (maybe less now) run by the Americans. There’s a lot of stuff by Dilyana.bg on this. Just one recent page:

  2. With the condemnation & sanctions threatened by western governments & organizations, Russia probably responded thusly:

“Please don’t throw us into the briar patch!”

    Tanto! Tanto!

    • I would be remiss if I did not share with you one of the currently best sites for geopolitical analysis in the world; a site completely devoid of crass monetization of current events; a site dedicated to the daily exposition of the “empire of lies”.

Here is a sampling of their content today:

  3. Over the years, I’ve worked in the same offices with Ukrainians, Russians and Polish people. I’ve found the ladies to be nice and friendly, but it is easy for the men to exhibit their racial prejudices, so are the Germans; not so with Western European States. It is promised in the next ‘World’ that we will all be one in ‘HIS LOVE’

  4. Seriously, CARICOM, as one who knows, it would be wise for you to have simply shut the fork up for now and avoid any blame on Russia. You idiots running that place are just political hacks singing for your supper with no knowledge and credibility. The best you could have done at this point is to ask for restraint on both sides. This type of talk does the region no favours. Since you idiots at CARICOM are ill-informed, with no background or knowledge of international issues, saying that a country has violated territorial integrity and independence is a path for war with that state. Why are you imbeciles so eager to say something like this? Russia, when it could, has been helpful to this region. Recall when the US bombed the heck out of little Grenada? Who was there? Russia. Idiocy, incompetence and vice appear to be the hallmark of government insitutions in the region.

  5. Below is a link to the speech given by Putin, before ordering the Russian military into Ukraine to begin the start of his promised military-technical measures to the irresponsiveness of the outlaw US empire and NATO to his entreaties for legally-binding security assurances for Russia. It is a superb exhibit of his status as the premier statesman of the world today (Xi Jinping is a close second, with both miles ahead of the cretins heading up the western governments):

Here is one comment noted at the link:

“This may be the finest speech of the 21st Century to date. I don’t think I’ve ever heard such a historic speech, speaking in the language of history, speaking in the moment of history – and with so much clear truth, so compassionately and righteously told. This speech will go down in the books that describe this age.

President Putin has poured an enormous amount of sanity and political stability into the world these last few days. Yes, Kremlin writers and staff have undoubtedly helped to craft the messages, but what a mind and what a character. What clear seeing.

What a people are these Russians, to be able to articulate their situation so flawlessly, and to act so cleanly in accord with this articulation.

The implications of the realism that Russia demonstrates right now are stunning. Russia will destroy the military capacity of the United States if that country makes a large enough foolish move. She will fight with any country on the planet, directly, and to win, if pushed.

This is beyond admiration. This is the role model for all nations to aspire to.”

  6. Please, don’t get hyped. Caricom is only singing for its supper. Always remember which side your bread is buttered.

  7. What else should we have expected from the Caricom Secretariat, the regional poodle of the outlaw US empire? The irrelevant yipping is just the only way they can thank their masters for their last doggie treat, along with vigorous tail-wagging to beg for more doggie treats.

  8. I wonder what do you know about this situation and prehistory to so called strongly condemn? Do not just repeat what US dictates you to say.

  9. All we can do is condem….Putin could not care anyless. If this gets sticky the fallout will be significant for the Caribbean. Higher gas price = higher plane fare. Higher gas price = higher food price….my son out in California tells me it’s well over $5.00 per gallon for gas up there…higher gas price affects everything.

    • Most honourable one, you are correct on your analysis however, this was the whole intension of the major players. The speculation game played on the world markets will bring great profits to the profiteers.
