Castries Fire Leaves Five Homeless

A fire Friday night in Trou Rouge, Castries, has left five people homeless, the Saint Lucia Fie Service (SLFS) says.

An SLFS official told St Lucia Times that the fire broke out about 7.00 pm, in a building that was part wooden and part concrete.

According to the official, the upper floor of the two-storey structure was destroyed while the ground floor was partially damaged.

“There was a problem with access by fire trucks because vehicles were parked on the road side,” he explained.

Where have I heard this before? but ofcourse this will continue to happen, all due
to lack of proper ‘Planing’. How can any Department of Planing issue Permits for
construction, not allowing for adequate road access for Fire Trucks, Ambulances etc.
