Castries Market Vendors Attend Training Workshop

Press Release:– Castries Market vendors recently participated in the third training program that seeks to sensitize vendors about the Castries Market Redevelopment project and its related activities.

The program was undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism, as part of the OECS Regional Tourism Competitiveness Project (ORTCP).

Communications liason with the project, Tecla Fontenard, said the training will ultimately enhance tourism product offerings in Saint Lucia.

During the five-day training program, vendors listened to presentations from the Saint Lucia Bureau of Standards, Export Saint Lucia, Belfund and TVET on the requisite standards and certifications for offering goods and services, the importance of product quality and as well as good business management and customer relations. Participants described the training as educational and transformative, citing the need for constant improvement when dealing with customers.

All vendors received a certificate of participation upon completion of the training exercise.

  1. A tremendous step towards differentiating SLU’s service. Hopefully, the information provided will manifest in greater sales. In many instances, vendors simply do not know and making them aware is the first step.

  2. Its good that finally we are taking the bull by the horns, this is great for the ladies, you will see the change tomorrow. Dont forget the meat guys and the fish guys, those need a lot of polishing and deodorant.
