Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has expressed the view that his government is very strong.
He spoke against the backdrop of the resignation of Doctor Ubaldus Raymond as Minister of the Public Service.
Raymond has also resigned from the senate.
He is the second government senator to have resigned since the United Workers Party (UWP) government came to power.
In July 2017, Jimmy Henry resigned as a senator and as the Minister in the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries, Physical Planning, Natural Resources and Co-operatives.
Henry cited “reasons altogether personal”.
“One has nothing to do with the other,” Prime Minister Chastanet told reporters when the issue of the two resignations from the senate was brought up.
“This idea that two people have resigned, I mean, completely different set of circumstances,” he asserted.
“At the end of the day my government is very strong. We are very committed to being able to deliver to the people of Saint Lucia what we promised,” Chastanet stated.
He gave the assurance that his administration is extremely focussed on those issues.
