Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has declared that Saint Lucians should be outraged over the spike in COVID-19 cases.

“We should be outraged; outraged as a public that the behaviour we have had so irresponsible during the Christmas and New Year that it has affected kids going back to school,” he asserted.

“People need to stop and reflect,” Chastanet declared on Wednesday.

He advised his countrymen to go to work and thereafter, go home.

However, Chastanet lamented that sadly, the message has not been working.

“We would have hoped that when persons saw the numbers increasing, they would have,” the PM stated.

“Why aren’t we getting mad at ourselves?” He asked.

He advised citizens to treat the COVID-19 spike as a report card.

“We have a failing grade at this point,” an impassioned Chastanet declared.

And he expressed the view that Saint Lucians have no one else to blame but themselves.

He noted that Taiwan and some other countries have shown that schools, businesses and other sectors can operate.

“Follow the protocols, that’s all we have to do,” Chastanet said.

He explained that in following the protocols “we can have it all.”

“We can go to school, we can be partying, we can do all the things we want to do,” he observed.

“We have to do better, we can do better, we must do better,” Chastanet declared.
