Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has lauded the nation’s teachers.
And he has praised their commitment to this country’s youth.
Chastanet’s comments came after he visited the Soufriere-Fond St Jacques constituency.
He made the visit on Saturday to view the progress of ongoing projects.
One of the projects was the block of the Les Etangs Combined School which workers have completed.
Chastanet wrote Sunday on his official Facebook page that the improvements impressed him.
And he recalled that he spoke to a few of the teachers.
According to the PM, they were busy preparing for the reopening of school.
“Their commitment to our nation’s youth is extremely admirable,” Chastanet said.
“And we remain forever grateful to them and all teachers across Saint Lucia for their continued dedication,” the PM stated.
Schools in Saint Lucia will reopen on Monday.
But there are concerns over the spread of COVID-19.
On Saturday the Ministry of Health and Wellness announced 43 new cases of the virus.
It was the highest number of cases officials have ever announced.
As a result, the total number of cases diagnosed in country was 438.
