Former Saint Lucia Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, has urged members of the public to get the COVID-19 jab, asserting that getting vaccinated is ‘the most important action we can currently take to protect ourselves and loved ones from the COVID-19 virus.’
InĀ a post Tuesday morning on his Facebook page, the former Prime Minister noted that according to the research, those who are vaccinated stand a much greater chance of surviving evolving COVID-19 strains than those who are not.
“Please take the advice from our local medical experts and get vaccinated,” he appealed to citizens, adding that their family and Saint Lucia need them.
Chastanet’s appeal comes against the backdrop of Monday’s announcement by the Ministry of Health that this country had recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 from a total of 180 samples taken during the period July 29, 2021 to August 1, 2021 and processed on August 1.
As of Monday, Saint Lucia had recorded a total of 5,646 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic started.
“Let us all make the decision to get vaccinated to protect ourselves and others from the COVID-19 virus,” the Ministry of Health urged in a release.
