Prime Minister Allen Chastanet says that moving people from the George Odlum stadium into the new St Jude Hospital is a priority.
He made the comments on his official Facebook page on Thursday.
The operations of St Jude Hospital in Vieux Fort moved to the George Odlum Stadium after a devastating fire at the hospital in 2009.
Three patients died in the blaze.
“My priority right now is to try to get the people from the stadium as quickly as possible and into the new facility,” the PM disclosed.
Chastanet explained that the new St Jude Hospital will be fifteen percent bigger than the OKEU Hospital.
“We need that kind of capacity,” the PM asserted.
In this regard, the PM cited the airport redevelopment and the new cruise terminal coming on stream in Vieux Fort.
“We are certainly looking to get tertiary level health care here in the South today and certainly well into the future,” he explained.
