Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has urged people to begin their preparations at home as the Atlantic hurricane season approaches.
The season will officially start on June 1.
“Though we don’t know what lies ahead, I am comforted that we have prepared diligently,” Chastanet wrote on his official Facebook page.
He cited his Micoud South constituency as an example.
“Since 2019 we have trained scores of small contractors in Disaster Vulnerability Reduction,” Chastanet disclosed.
He also said 140 contracts for the building of drains and retaining walls have been issued.
The PM observed that as a result, it has tremendously improved the resilience of the Communities to withstand rain events.
And while urging people to prepare at home, he expressed confidence that “together we can weather any storm.”
