Christopher Hunte continues protest

Christopher Hunte continued his protest Wednesday against the Desert Star Holdings Limited (DHS) project and plans for a dolphin park at Pigeon Island, declaring that while people are at each other’s throats on Facebook in relation to the developments, on the ground they do not know about the issues.

“I am encouraging people for the DSH agreement to read the agreement no matter what party they support,” Hunte told the Times as he stood at the Castries Waterfront, placard held aloft.

He asserted that some things transcend politics.

Hunte said in regard to the planned dolphin park at Pigeon Island that if citizens do not start to protect their patrimony and heritage, there is no determining what may happen next.

“We might as well just take the Pitons and sell them,” he told the Times.

Hunte, who was joined by two other individuals in his protest, disclosed plans to continue the protest into the foreseeable future.

“There are People who pass here – some will curse me, some will toot their horns, but more importantly if it creates any level of curiousity and gets people to go read the information. We are a surface news culture now – we just want enough news so that we can get by the moment and we misuse the media the same way we misuse a lamp post, more for support than illumination,” he asserted.

Hunte said people are making blanket statements.

“If they read the DSH agreement and they knew the Prime Minister signed an MOU with China State Construction Company, they would not be talking about jobs because they would realise that we have signed away the jobs already,” he explained.

Hunte said it would also be realised that in the case of the Royalton Saint Lucia Resort and Spa, $US 250 million was spent and nineteen acres of land was bought.

“We understand that foreign direct investment, but when you are giving a guy 1000 acres and counting, you are also giving him the airport to do redevelopment on and outside of 30 million to do the race track – all the rest of it is going to be funded by our passports. China does not have dual citizenship, if we have all of these people that get passports, either they’re coming here or people are buying them on the black market – China is a communist country so you cannot openly buy the passports,” Christopher Hunte told the Times.

He declared that the more Saint Lucian passports are sold, the more this country will be blacklisted in the world.

  1. Well its a democratic country so if we stop him then it wouldn’t be. To each his own. As long as it is within the confinements of the law.

    • Singing for his lost suppers. Mr. Creative ($$$$$$$$$$$$) Industries. A past leech on the public purse who wants more….much more. Mr. Think Forward a labour apologist and master of illusion.

  2. I’m with him in this Saint Lucians need to take heed as to how we are losing all our rights, standing in the world and land. Please people stop being so near sighted again ppl do your research look into b the mess that is the DHS Baha Mar projects and please stop allowing your governing members from taking us all for horrible rides. STOP SELLING YOURSELVES SHORT. REMIND THESE “SO CALLED GORVENING BODIES” THEY WORK FOR YOU. They are civil servants. Just like the sanitation workers.

    • Who cares…he’s singing for his bread….all the time we were suffering..not a word not a word….now alone he’s talking….go back in your hole….you little fool…boom look it….in your face…yo pè

  3. I can..still remember a certain government tear gas in..demonstrators in the late 1970’S….or guess I’m wrong

  4. The guy has the democratic right to protest for as long as he wants, but most of us know it’s just a political stunt.

    • Why don’t people stop to think and educate themselves on issues instead of making statements that have no bearing. As Christopher advised; go read the DHS agreement. Are we giving away our land in the name of ‘jobs’. Is it when we will be asked to leave or be deported from the very land of our birth that we will find out what’s the real deal. OMG

  5. I want to ask Chris whether he knew about the past government proposed dolphin park in another part of St.Lucia? I’m really curious. If he didn’t know then that’s the government we had before. Lucians didn’t know anything which was happening. At least now we know and we can make an input through protests and whatever means necessary.

    • He is unemployed and vexed. He needs to get a real job and stop his politicking. Let Tulsie or somebody credible lead the process. Where was he when Kenny and his dad agreed to the first dolphin park. If these projects were labour then Christopher Hunte would be their biggest proponents.

Musicians and many others He help to improve themselves and their livelihoods .while he was in creative and heritage. Only his friends. Now they kicked him out he upset with the new government.. By all means he must protest. What an idiot.

  10. Real St Lucian my brother, I really appreciate what you doing, wish I was in st Lucia to join you.

  11. Why does our justice let him get away with it. Is he above the law? He made a statement quote “I am my fathers son” before he launched into a tirade of profanities on television, should that have been Timothy Poleon, Andre Paul, or any other news media personnel, they would have been taken off the air, arrested, fined and more than likely put in the slammer.
The question to ask is the Hunte family above the law, or is it as per usual to be swept under the carpet?
Christopher Hunte, just get out of peoples faces, you’re a sore sight to behold.

  12. As a young professional in St Lucia. ..I admire your stance. I would of liked to join you sir but I fear that politicians would literally eat my career up by victimizing me….you know how it goes here! Therefore I support you whole heartedly in the background.

  13. How can he be singing for his supper when he is better off than 3/4 of the population.

    Find something to criticize.

  14. It’s very difficult to remove cornmeal out of flour …..Hunt is flour his followers is cornmeal. Can you change anything ?

  15. Christopher is saddened and disillusioned not about DSH but about the fat salaried political consultant job he lost through the 11-6 election scolding. That is his gripe.

But where was christopher for Grynberg the mother of all secret deals.

Why he not going and help his father in his business than stand up every day by government buildings holding a placard. No ambition. A shame. Waiting for political handouts.

    • Absolutely!! Why the silence on Grynberg? In a more advanced society where the need for accountability is understood, the Grynberg affair would be considered treasonous and someone would go to jail. “protect their patrimony and heritage” he says doesn’t our heritage extend to whats below sea level?? The Hypocrisy!!!

  16. thats the problem with st.lucians, you guys love fighting amongst each other. Stop the stupidity and look at the problem at hand. Our lands are being sold by a man who has always been selling the land to foreigners. One day st.lucia will be completely owned by foreigners and all you guys will be owned unless you stand together. You guys are acting like the Africans back in slavery time. Sold your people for money and they turned out to be slaves for god alone knows how long. Think of your children

  17. They security companies are explioting the workers of st lucia they make them sign contracts for 4;25 cents 12 hours a day with one day off mr king go to the new hospital to investigate

  18. Ppl is not about who he supports ..too many mistakes been going on in this country with them crooks we elected red and yellow..see the dept owing see bad publicity we recieving internationaly and nationaly .he is not against development is the bad deals he against.chris we stand in aww with you ..letvyour will b done

  19. I wonder how many of those who are commenting have actually read the entire contract!

Lucians need to elevate themselves from this partisan politics.

Regardless of what your personal thoughts are about the gentleman all what he’s stated is correct.

He’s evening begging you’ll to go and read the contract for yourselves so you’ll don’t have to be fed cow dung by our politicians.

Yet all some of you’ll can see is Red or Yellow.

Just ask yourselves how many untruths were said prior to the contract being leaked only to find out what was actually in the contract contradicts what we were told.

Some of us just love being slaves to these politicians.

    The Revolution has started!

  20. I applaud his tentacity by i’m afraid it will come to nil. PM has a vested interest in DSH going through no matter what so Mr. Teo is taking advantage of that.

  21. Reading all these comments made my head hurts, we have to no whats wrong and right, put red and yellow a side. This a little island, we can’t afford to lose it to any politician. Now remember we put new ones there, new ideas!

  22. This country is not democratic like we think it is..some of us would love to join but knowing how things run here ..we might not have a job by the end of the protest..so keep strong CH we with u…

  24. St.lucians need to understand the fact and reality of st.lucia being an island not a country. When the government goes about selling land after land, ask yourself how much land will you remain. Am not sorry for those you rather keep themselves ignorant, I’ll just be sorry to shove them aside when they start crying. Lucian’s wake up and smell the coffee, your land is being taken away from you. I bet you when the PM retires he won’t live in st.lucia.

  25. The st Lucian government has sold the country and the people, they are out of order, the government dose not care about st Lucia or the people, all they went is money. The people will get to build or have jods. The Chinese will bring their own workers, after the Chinese have finsh the jods they will not go back to China. In the next 10 years, the pollution will distroy the st Lucia.
All St Lucian need to stand up and fight for the what they believe in, looks after was is yours because know – one will look after ST LUCIAN.
