City Police Announce Dozens Of Arrests For Indecent Exposure

The City Police recorded a total of fifty arrests for indecent exposure in the Saint Lucia capital between March 2018 and June 2019, according to figures released recently.

Indecent exposure accounted for most of the arrests followed by 28 cases of the possession of dangerous weapons and 26 for disorderly behavior.

There were also 22 cases of stealing from persons and a similar number of unlawful assaults.

Eighteen individuals were held for the possession of cannabis and  there were six cases of wounding among the figures released at a news conference.

The total number of cases recorded were 245 while 219 were brought before the court and 26 resulted in cautions being issued by the City Police.

The City Police said they won 145 cases that were brought before the court.

Two cases were sent to mediation, while a similar number of cases resulted in the court cautioning the individuals involved.

Twenty-four cases are pending in the trial court, with 34 pending in the Magistrate’s Court.

The City Police have disclosed that in the future they plan to engage in more frequent stop and search exercises, property searches and traffic checks in cooperation with the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

  1. Doesn’t one need to have reasonable/justifiable cause to search ones property or to be stopped. Isn’t a search warrant needed? One should like to know the justifiable events that would trigger a search. This just doesn’t seem right to me.
Isn’t that infringing on the rights of individuals to freely exercise their god given right to do as they please within the law. Maybe there are laws that states otherwise, which puts us in a similar position as some of these freedom restrictive countries.

    • Not really. Barring entry into someone’s property the Police can deem pretty much any activity suspicious.

  2. In my opinion, I think, according to what I read here, the Police is doing a damn good job.
So they should be supported 100%. just think if you allow people to do whatever they want
well you can kiss your tourist Industry good bye.Decent families in St.Lucia deserve better.

  3. How do you differentiate between freedom of expression and indecent exposure when one isn’t naked
