Cop Questioned In Probe Into Attack On Former Beauty Pageant Contestant

A police officer is assisting law enforcement officials with investigations into an attack earlier this year on former beauty pageant contestant, Maygan Pascal, police say.

Pascal, a former Soufriere Carnival Queen, was attacked  by a cutlass wielding assailant in Soufriere resulting in her hospitalisation.

She has since recovered from her injuries.

The police officer who is assisting with the probe into the attack was questioned Tuesday, according to reports.

On August 23, 2019, Junior Hinds, also known as Junior Pologne, alias ‘Polo’, was charged  for the offence of grievous bodily harm in connection with the attack on Pascal.

‘Polo’, a resident of Caffeire, Choiseul, was granted bail in the sum of $3,500 cash, suitable surety or land documents when appeared in court, police say.

The bail conditions included surrendering his travel documents to the court, not leaving the state without the permission of the court and not contacting the virtual complainant, her family or any witnesses for the prosecution.

In addition, he was ordered not to venture within 100 metres of the virtual complainant and not to apply for travel documents without the court’s permission.

The accused was also ordered report to the Choiseul Police station on Wednesdays between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm.

  1. First of all I feel ignorant replying to this poorly written piece. Seriously, please hire better writers and editors…Fire the general manager. At this point it’s a damm shame; making St. Lucians look stupid on the world Stage with such a presentation. Can only concluded St. Lucians are worst in gernaral when it comes to speech and writing given the platform.

    • Well said, I couldn’t have said better; this article is virtually incomprehensible, I must admit. It should be rewritten for Christ’s sake!

    • while you have a point, I do suspect most who are writing news article either just have cxc or a little post secondary certificate and therefore need to further their education, please learn to spell general before complaining.

      • Oh Oh.
        NB.
“genaral” was a typo in his/her comment. Please see his/her inclusion of the words, “general manager” in his “complaint “, if I may use this particular word.

I just thought that I’d point this out of mischief. Please, don’t dwell on my sense of mischief. Thanks.

  2. Cant live with horns, most likelly you were a failure, thats why she left you.Now the boys in hotel making party in your name, the hulk preparing to recieve you.He will fix your exaust pipe

  3. Police officers are human beings and criminal acts are committed by human beings. Further, these officers were socialized by us and recruited from amongst us. So I would expect that the evils that permeates in our wider society will also be present in the RSLPF since we nurtured and socialized them. Therefore like the wider society, I would expect the RSLPF to have officers who reflect all it’s ills. Let’s stop being hypocrites, pretending like the officers came from Mars. We made thèm.!!
We should therefore look at the other fingers poining at us and take ownership of our handy work. We must admit that we are a corrupt society and will to a large extent socialize corrupt young men and women – the very one who would later be employed by organizations like the RSLPF.

Corruption is the order of the day in this country. Ask our leaders and they will tell you how rampant it is.

    • Well said. That has always been my view of law enforcement agecies around the world. My brothers and sisters it’s what u hand over to the workforce that they will recieve. if u breed lazy and currupt young men and women this is what the workforce in the country will get. So please look at your brother, sister mother father and children before u decide to crucify another.
