Cops Nab Man Who Escaped City Police Custody

A man who escaped City Police custody in March this year, has been rearrested and charged with escaping lawful custody and possession of a dangerous weapon.

City Police Corporal, Jenna Pierre, identified the individual as 45 year old Aaron Francis of La Pansee, Castries.

Pierre told St Lucia Times that on  March 29, 2021, Francis was taken before the Magistrate’s court for bail after he was charged with stealing shampoo, honey and other items from a herbal shop in Castries.

She explained that as a result of being unable to post bail, he was awaiting a COVID-19 test before being transferred to the Bordelais Correctional Fcility (BCF).

But Pierre said  about 10.15 am on March 30, he escaped from custody at the City Police headquarters in the Castries Constituency Council (CCC) building in Castries.

But he was arrested on Friday about 8.30 am at the Castries market and escorted back to the City Police headquarters and is due to face the Magistrate’s court on Monday on the new charges of escaping from lawful custody and being in possession of a dangerous weapon – a knife.
