Concerns related to a COVID-19 surge in Saint Lucia have prompted a change in the visiting policy at the OKEU Hospital.

According to a statement issued by the Millennium Heights Medical Complex, effective Wednesday, August 18, visiting hours at the hospital will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to reduce the potential congregation of visitors.

The statement said that each patient will be allowed one visitor per day with a maximum of 15 minutes for each visit.

“These measures are temporary and are intended to reduce the potential risk to patients, staff, and visitors,” it noted.

In addition, Millennium Heights Medical Complex has announced a revised Labour and Delivery Accompanying Support policy.

“Effective Wednesday, Aug. 18, as we balance benefits to the individual patient with the duty to reduce infectious exposures to visitors, other patients, the community, and the healthcare team, accompanying support will not be allowed into the labour and delivery rooms until further notice,” the complex advised.

The National Mental Wellness Centre and the Turning Point Rehabilitation Centre will continue with the revised COVID-19 visiting hours implemented last year.
