A sister of the 30 year old man who was fatally shot on Jeremie Street is reported to be under medical care, following the homicide on Sunday.
“The family is not doing good at all – the last sister, she at the health centre right now,” Marcia George, another sister of the deceased told St Lucia Times.
George described her late brother – Dwayne William, alias ‘Zoe Zoe’, as a ‘nice’ and ‘friendly’ individual.
She told St Lucia Times she was not aware that the resident of Bois Den, Jacmel, had any enemies.
George disclosed that she last spoke with her brother just days before, when he informed her that he had landed a job.
“Nobody put anybody on this earth – they should not have the right to take the person’s life,” she asserted.
“What goes around comes around. What you do to somebody, you have to expect it to happen to you,” George explained.
She said that according to information she received, William went to Castries to get lunch from a female sibling who asked him to go to the Castries market to buy a mobile telephone ‘top-up.’
“Somebody run up to my sister with blood telling my sister they shoot my brother by the market. The person just walk up to him and shoot him,” George recounted.
A police statement on the fatal shooting said law enforcers received a report about the incident about 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
“Dwayne William was on Jeremie Streeet, Castries, when he allegedly sustained a gunshot wound to the face. He was conveyed to the Victoria Hospital where he succumbed due to the injury sustained,” the police statement noted.
A post mortem examination is scheduled for a subsequent date.
Saint Lucia has so far recorded seven homicides for the year.
